Scripture Union
Scripture Union (SU) has over 130 national movements at work around the world. It is an interdenominational movement working in churches and schools countrywide. SU does not provide funding to its national entities – each body is responsible for raising its own finances, and GLO supports SU Burundi financially.
SU’s main functions in Burundi include producing the Bible-reading notes for the country, sensitising and training people to educate communities on AIDS and spreading the Word of God.
SU runs:
- A thriving Bible-teaching department distributing daily Bible-reading notes countrywide
- An expanding evangelistic outreach countrywide through schools and churches and youth camps
- The main children's ministry in the country
- Two regional offices
- The only significant AIDS project from a Christian perspective, embracing a holistic approach, breaking sexual taboos and sensitising people nationally to the issue
All these activities, except for the AIDS project, are financed through GLO’s contacts outside of Burundi.
