Harvest for Christ
Harvest for Christ (HfC) is involved in conflict mediation and community outreach. It started up a number of 'clubs' in different communes and aims to have a presence in every commune in the country by the year 2017. Each club member is trained in ‘Evangelism Explosion’ and goes on at least one outing per month.
One of GLO’s biggest priorities has been the introduction of the ‘Evangelism Explosion’ method of training up pastors to share their faith. It is a 13-week programme involving one hour in the classroom and two hours visiting people. The trainer also takes two apprentices with him, so they see how it's done (and that it can be done!). In turn the apprentices have the confidence to practice it themselves and, in due course, take other apprentices and train them up.
This leads to many people being equipped to evangelise, being discipled in the training process, and empowered to be part of a bold and impacting witness for Christ.
Onesphore Manirakiza, a qualified lawyer, founded HfC in 2001 and is the National Co-ordinator. He is a dynamic and energetic visionary with a 15-year plan for Burundi.
