He also came at KCC to challenge volunteers about Children ministry. ‘’The motto is Strong Sunday school, strong Church’’. Among 42 volunteers, 10 were for Children Ministry and 32 for youth ministry.
Youth and evangelism ministry
In Muyinga, FECABU church was visited and 5 people accepted the Lord for the first time. In the same province, one of our volunteers called Java taught good news to his colleague who was a drunkard soldier, he confessed his sexual sins and gave up alcohol; he is witnessing in the camp and in churches of Muyinga. His name is Ildephonse Nkurunziza, a sergeant in the army
In Kirundo, the Free Methodist church was visited and 18 new Christians accepted the lord. Major Bizimana Félix, an officer of the National army accepted the lord and he thanked the lord for God’s protection. He said: God has showed his protection, his love and his mercy before I knew him. It is a great joy to know and love the one who loved me before”. This shows that the SU vision is not limited in churches and high schools only but also in military camps and prisons. Rev. Augustin, the SU central –East coordinator was solicited to go frequently in the big prison of Gitega to reach prisoners by Good news. We praise God for his hand upon him.
This period was a special month to reach and proclaim Good news in high schools as it was a period of bible clubs opening.
We visited the Mageyo high school in rural Bujumbura and prayed for Bible club leaders. The number of students was 40 and 5 leaders were elected.
The high school of Muberure is growing in rural Bujumbura, they are now 80 people. Despite the problem of insecurity prevailing in those areas, they are united and full of joy of our Lord.
In Bujumbura the SU staff and volunteers are devoured by the zeal of the Ministry, 41 volunteers were being trained about the Vision , Mission, Aims, Activities, Statement of belief, Working principles, Hermeneutic principles in order to spread Good News in schools.
In Gitega, 25 schools gathered and 600 students came in the meeting. After the message delivered by Simon Guillebaud, all of them accepted to take the baton and go with the message of Jesus wherever they are. We are saved not only to rejoice in the Lord when everything is ok but also to rejoice in troubles. We will face oppositions, false teachings but we must continue and achieve the race. We stayed at Youth for Christ’s Future Hope Centre and we enjoyed a lovely warm welcome from the YFC staff, we benefited of this opportunity to show a movie to around 30 orphans living in that centre in order to share the love of our lord Jesus. It was also a good testimony of our partnership.
500 persons watched Bunyan’s Pilgrim progress film at ETS Kamenge and 40 responded but 15 of them accepted Jesus as their personal saviour.
Kibenga, Kanyosha, Musaga were 2 schools visited this month and we thank God for the joy they have to receive the message of God
Bible Ministry
The staff of SU spent a week at Kiremba to finalise the ‘’Daily Guide ‘’notes. We praise God that the book is in the printing house and that we will have it before the end of November.

Children Ministry
On June 6th to 8th, The training of 45 children Sunday school teachers from Bubanza, Cibitoke and Kayanza provinces took place in Burundi Holy Spirit Unity Church named EUSEBU. Scripture Union worked in partnership with CEM (Children Evangelical Mission of Burundi). They learn how to plan one hour Sunday school program and how to prepare a 5 to 10 min bible lesson.
An organisation of Burundi Love festival is being prepared and Ephraim is leading the Children Ministry commission in that Festival. We praise God that SU is contributing to reach thousands of Children during the Festival lead by Andrew Palau.
The Children ministry Coordinator went to evangelise children in Foursquare Gospel Church of Buterere. He trained 15 monitors of Sunday school the easy way to teach a memory verse to children and how to plan a Sunday school program.
Churches are now beginning to give their own contribution to refresh participants in Children ministry training. They are thankful to SU movement because we teach them how to give the right message to children in the right way.
Youth and Evangelism Ministry
From June 1st to 3rd, a very big meeting was organised in Giharo a commune bordering Tanzania. 7 denominations organised together the camp and most of the participants were repatriates with singing of thanks to God. The aim of that camp was for both the reconciliation of churches and people especially the healing and purification of the land because it is an area where more than 1500 people were killed in the crisis. 3 white people were killed in a terrible way and Zuniga the UN ambassador were killed in that area. God is raising a new generation of peace makers; 3 preachers and an audio-visual who projected Jesus movie and other evangelical movies. We praise the Lord for 3000 who listened to the word and registered 300 new born again persons and 250 people who came back to the lord as they had backslidden. During the 2 nights 10000 came to watch movies and many responded. Churches are following up the new born again Christians. On Sunday the 3rd, a holy communion was done and pastors from different denominations helped. This was a sign of unity in Christ and an opportunity to proclaim the blood of Jesus to heal the land on which the blood was shed. Many telephone calls are being received here in Scripture Union to tell us the ongoing changing of people from that area. EEAC Kanyosha, Foursquare Buterere, RUZIBA Anglican Church, Busimba Pentecostal, United Methodist, Evangelical friend Church, Full Gospel Church were visited.
Rutana High school, Pax Carita, Kiganda High School, Ruyigi High School were visited. We praise the lord for the unity in bible groups of Muramvya Province and Buyengero commune. Schools under catholic convention prefer scripture union to go and teach good news because of our interdenominational character.
We praise the Lord for 8 Muslims who have started to come and attend services in Pax Caritas secondary school. We pray for some churches of Burundi to overcome divisions in order to reach many. The Staff working in ''Hope for future Project''- ''EPA '' participated in a training of church Mobilisation and were shaped in the way they can help churches to get mobilised and developed

Youth and Evangelism Ministry The Descent at Buyengero was special.
It is a very disaster stricken commune in the province of Bururi. All houses are renewed because everything was destroyed by the war. We went up by public transport with the generator and materials we use to show movies. The road was very rough and it passes trough the forest where rebels used to stay and kill. God is good! Around 4000, many of them are ex-combatants and repatriates watched the "Jesus film'','' Le combat'', ''Pigo la Faraja''. After all films, more than 200 people came to the Lord and received him as their personal Saviour. Sexual sin endangers the area; after training 150 students from 8 schools of that commune, 43 students repented from the sexual sin.
15 schools of Gitega were visited; ECOSO, Lycee Gitega, ENEF, Regina Pacis, International School, Pax Caritas, Lycee Sainte Bernadette, Lycee Kiganda CoCo Mudende, ETS Kamenge, Lycee Musaga , Lycee Kibenga, Lycee Rumonge, Lycee Nyankanda. Many of the students were wounded but healed when they are taught of self esteem. Also when they were taught about ''true romance'' or'' love without regret'' We praise the Lord that whenever Scripture union team enters to minister, we see people changing their behaviour.
Hope for Future Project The team is on the field for needs assessment so that they can run new relevant projects
They visited the population of Giharo commune in Rutana and they will go in Ngozi this week |
Children Ministry Children ministry is growing and churches are getting involved in it.
