Evangelism Explosion was introduced to Burundi in 2000. It has since experienced huge growth and fruitfulness as an organisation. Burundians are very receptive to the gospel, and Evangelism Explosion (EE) provides the layperson with a systematic and coherent presentation of the gospel, and the confidence to reach out to neighbours or colleagues. It is a 13-week course during which there is each week an hour of classroom time and then two hours of visiting the neighbourhood. Churches that have implemented EE have seen significant growth in both numbers of new converts and depth of discipleship. There is even an equivalent training programme for children.
Evangelism Explosion Burundi is recognised as one of (if not the) strongest EE movements in the whole of Africa. Many tens of thousands of people have come to faith through EE, and it has been used and implemented in many denominations across the country. There are a number of regional staff members working throughout the country, and they have been able to train up and empower many thousands of Christians to reach out effectively to those around them.
