Your household may have a Bible in it, perhaps several! But Josine’s home had none, and her heart longed for one of her own.
“I felt so bad on Sundays at church when we were asked to open our Bibles. Others would open theirs, but I couldn’t. I went home feeling sad, not even knowing which passage had been read.”
Josine was so hungry for God’s word, she went to measures some might consider extreme.
“I took a 100-page notebook and started copying from the book of Genesis.”
It would have taken Josine a month’s worth of 24/7 writing to complete the entire Bible! Thankfully, after finishing Genesis, she attended a Scripture Union Bible Camp. “One of the leaders saw me copying the book of Exodus and asked why I was writing the Bible into a notebook. I told him that I didn’t have a Bible.
“He told me they would give me one, and I was so happy! Now, I can read my Bible anytime. At church, I can read along with everyone else. Afterwards, I go through the sermon again at home, which helps me understand it even better. Before, I couldn’t even share a single verse with others, but now I can do it joyfully.”
How precious the word of God is!
And what a joy to be an answer to prayer for people like Josine.
Today I was reading Max Lucado’s book Just Like Jesus Devotional. It spoke on Encouragement. Where do we get encouragement? How do we Encourage? Thank you for these testimonies. Awful with what they have walked through, however Jesus gets the Glory for how he brought them through these ordeals.
