Burundi Youth for Christ exists to raise up a godly generation of young leaders for the transformation of society; through orphan care, excellent schools and medical clinics.
Who we work with: orphans, schoolchildren (all ages), rural communities needing medical care
What we offer: BYFC is passionate about the potential of children and young people to help provide a brighter future for Burundi. Its schools are listed as the best in the country and its vision is already bearing fruit in birthing godly young leaders of integrity who are championing positive change in their communities.
Our projects include:
Homes of Hope – these are very special orphanages organised into small ‘families’, providing loving homes for Burundian orphans from all regions and ethnic groups in Gitega and Cibitoke.
Future Hope Schools provide quality primary education where pupils learn English and computing alongside the normal Burundian curriculum, underpinned by strong Christian values.
Gitega International Academy (GIA) is an exemplary Christian boarding school for young men and women that provides internationally accredited secondary education in English. Its motto is “Integrity. Excellence. Leadership.” Children of all faiths and none attend this prestigious school and every child takes part in activities of service for the community, so they grow up infused with a mission to care for others.
Shammah Health Centre provides high quality ethical and affordable healthcare, primary disease prevention, health education and engagement with community leaders to create lasting change.
Sustainability BYFC has a number of social enterprise initiatives so that its work becomes self-sustaining over the long term. These include pig farming and a small shop. These enterprises also help serve to provide skills and training for our young people.
Prayer movements Operation Hannah and Operation Watchmen mobilise mothers and fathers to cover the next generation in prayer.
