GLO Supporter Jennie is a teacher and a mother of three. She was particularly struck by the thousands of children in Burundi who cannot afford the materials they need for education. “I know how important it is that children go to school. I cannot imagine being forced to choose which of my children could go to school because of being unable to pay for all of them.” So Jennie decided she wanted to raise some money for GLO’s Education, Opportunities and Skills fund, in order to provide education and empower those lacking opportunities.
“I have completed many long trails, such as The West Highland Way and The Coast to Coast but never the Coastal Path of the Isle of Wight. I have lived on the island for 12 years, and the path runs just below my home. The island is very hilly and very beautiful. Jennie completed the journey over five days – averaging around 14 miles per day.
The walk was a huge success. Jennie was mostly blessed with good weather, as well as plenty of beautiful views. GLO is so grateful to everybody who supported Jennie – together you managed to raise nearly £2000! This money will go a long way towards empowering some of the poorest communities in Burundi.
Thank you Jennie!
